My Longest Commute

This summer, I’m interning with the California Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR). Oakland may be the seat of my heart, but Sacramento is the seat of California’s government. I landed myself a 2+ hour commute.

Somewhat surprisingly, almost half of OPR lives in the East Bay, so there are opportunities to carpool. But some days, like today, I get to take the train. This morning at 6 am, I biked downhill to Jack London Square for my first commute by train to Sacramento. Both the wind and Twitter were at my back.

And of course, California sunrises are always beautiful. My work this summer is around the rural section of an updated environmental goals and policy report. Four hours of this every day is good inspiration.

[UPDATE]

My tweet was included with fellow Oakland Leslie Knope-in-training Rebecca Saltzman in July’s Amtrak Employee newsletter. One of my OPR colleagues suggested I just tell people it’s a publication.
