I believe that my understanding of general farming practices far exceeds that of the typical urban dweller (thank you Newton County 4H), but I never turn down the chance to look at some kale in a field.
OPR staff and interns were invited to tour Full Belly Farms, in the Capay Valley of Yolo County. This is one of those organic farms that sells eggs for $6 a dozen and gives its employees full health benefits. Until the temperature broke 100, they had me nearly convinced that I wanted to work on a farm.
